Future Career

Recently, I was asked about my future beyond my current job, and I found it challenging to respond. I genuinely enjoy my work and am excited about the upcoming projects. While no job is perfect, and while I do have a few concerns, none of them make me want to leave; rather, they are more about needing adjustments to improve the current situation.

My plan is to remain in my current job and gain as much experience with Salesforce as possible. In my previous roles, I stayed for 2.5 and 2.7 years, respectively. I hope to remain in my current position for longer than that, aiming for around five years, which I consider the ideal duration for employment. However, things can always change, so it’s important to stay prepared.

My concerns that I would like to adjust by the end of the year - the 3 H's - are as follows:

  • Hours: I need to focus less on work. It has been all-encompassing at times this past year. I need to calm down the workaholicism I am prone to do & get back to enjoying life. Life is too short to be working all the time.
  • Health: I need to focus more on getting healthy. During the work day, I tend to forget to eat lunch or take a break. I need to get back on track with regular stretch breaks & a lunch. I need to remember to set up health appointments & get check-ups.
  • Home: My apartment lease is up for renewal in the fall. I plan to move back to the West Coast instead of renewing it. My friends and my home/condo are located there. Since I no longer work with Personify or for non-profit associations, there’s no reason for me to stay in the DMV area.
If I were to lose my current job or need to look for a different one, I believe I would be able to find a job more easily with my Salesforce skills. Many more companies use Salesforce compared to Personify, which gives me a better chance in the job market. Additionally, there are many hospitals and healthcare companies on the West Coast if I decide to stay in that industry.

I am excited for the upcoming months as I prepare to bring my plans to life.
